Hummingbird Garden

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHenderson Hummingbird Garden Club May 13th at 6:30 PM at Minnesota New Country – Agenda will be: Garden Club meeting schedule, meeting locations, future plant swap, goals for the Hummingbird Garden this year, Garden work days for the summer season, and gardener recruitment

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Hummingbird Garden development continues as a community asset. It is located adjacent to Bender Park so people wishing to photograph hummingbirds or just watch them can do so with people comforts available.
Construction began in the spring of 2010 and the new garden was attracting hummingbirds during that first summer season. By 2011 an actual “buffet line” was set and birds, by the dozens, were in abundance during the Hummingbird
Hurrah 2011. We expect the population to increase, making the garden an even greater place to observe and photograph hummingbirds all season long.

3627621_orig2011 saw the long-awaited installation of the bridge that was postponed due to high water in 2010 and the first part of 2011. But just in time for the HHH event, the bridge was placed over the stream and access direct to the garden walkways was accomplished.

In addition, 2011 saw the installation of the Chimney Swift Tower. As part of Audubon Minnesota efforts to assist in providing nesting environments for these endangered aerial masters, Henderson Feathers underwrote the construction of the Chimney Swift Tower as part of the Hummingbird Garden.

Remember, the Hummingbird Garden is a total “Volunteer” effort. Those wishing to assist with financial support, planting and/or maintenance of the gardens, please Contact Henderson Feathers –
